Wordless Wednesday - Hanging with my Godmother

Last weekend, a group of us went to dinner at Buon Gusto on the upper east side. I go back and forth between going it alone or bringing my daughter since it ends up way past her bedtime. I decided to bring her along and she was fabulous, behaviour wise, eating her dinner wise and plain entertaining wise. I think is smart enough to figure out that if she whines or misbehaves, she has to stay at home.

My daughter with one of her godmothers. She has two.

Wordless Wednesday - Visiting Highline Park At Night

Everyone heads to the Highline Park during the day but the evening is a great time to walk those few short blocks and see the city and the New Jersey skyline from a different perspective and all light up.

Wordless Wednesday - Kings and Queens Art Exhibit

Last week, my daughter's school had their annual Art Exhibit and the theme this year, Kings and Queens. Now, I just need to figure out how to preserve this masterpiece.

Wordless Wednesday - Do you remember when?

In my efforts to get organized (which if worked 24/7 will never happen,) I found some photos.  Lord have mercy, remember when you had to go and stock up on film and get them developed. That wasn't that long ago.

Luckily, the company where I had my film developed offered a dvd option and lo and behold, I uploaded a ton of photos of my daughter when she was about 5-6 months.

What a happy baby!!!

I remember this contraption, it was such a life saver. I lived in a third floor walk-up and literally ran up, dropped my daughter off in this thing and ran down to get the stroller and bags. Sounds crazy, right. That stopped when she started walking. Imagine carrying a child, a stroller and grocery bags.

Ahh, the swing. Those were great restful moments when she fell asleep.

Wordless Wednesday - Karate Promotion to Advanced Blue Belt

Before the promotion program. Just a blue belt.

The exercise part of the program, I love it, they make the kids all do pushups, jumping jacks and sit ups.
What is this the army?

Quiet time while sempais  (teachers) put out their belts

Ah the culmination of hard work. Now my daughter is an advanced blue belt. I would love to know what the sash says that I know have to whip out my sewing machine for.

For those of you missed my Saturday post, Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker were at the dojo watching their son be promoted as well.

Wordless Wednesday - Pretty in Pink

My daughter is going through her all one color look. She likes pink but this day, she insisted in wearing all pink.
As a New Yorker who is has a gazillion black pants, skirts and dresses, I am hanging onto the pink as long as I can.

Wordless Wednesday - What a Difference A Year Makes

My daughter's birthday is coming up this saturday. It's hard to believe that she got this rather large stuffed animal when she turned 6 and this year, well, she will be getting Nitendo DS.

Wordless Wednesday - Snow Day

Last Friday, New York City public schools were closed due to the snowstorm and let's say this there was a collective groan across the city including myself. And why not because, I was supposed to spend the day getting my tax stuff together but because I promised to take my daughter to Central Park sledding. Instead we headed to another park closer to our apartment. Problem solved.

We had to get warm or should I say I had to go warm because when you are just standing around, your toes get cold.

Wordless Wednesday - Apartment Garage Sale

I have no idea what possessed my daughter and her BFF to want to set up a "garage sale" out in our hallway but they did and there was no stopping them. This is what city kids do. Unfortunately, we had to go to a birthday party so they did not have a chance to sell their stuff.

Wordless Wednesday - Christian Louboutin Shoes I Wish I Could Wear

I happened upon the Christian Louboutin shoe store in the Meatpacking district and had to capture these shoes. They are just so fun, I should have gone into try some on but alas not enough time.

In case you have never heard of Christian Louboutin, you have probably seen his shoes on vast celebrities, actresses, just look for the signature red bottom of the shoe. You can't miss them and if you watch Oprah or Regis/Kelly you definitely can't miss them.

Check out the Christian Louboutin, if you love shoes and you love a good website. He does carry flats and mid-heels, who knew but the best part is the shoes marked extremely high heels.

As I always say, his high heels are meant to be walked in from your town car/limo to the event. In all the years, I have lived in NYC, I have never ever seen a woman walking down the street in those heels unless she was hailing a cab or getting into a town car.

Wordless Wednesday -Our Favorite Museum

How can you resist that smile? No matter how wacky life gets, there is nothing more heart warming that your child's smile. Of course, she is just itching to run around the floor and that is why she is grinning.

Wordless Wednesday - Waiting for the Bus with Miranda

Waiting for the bus. I love the juxtoposition of her baby doll Miranda and the her Hawaiian bag, a gift from her god mother R.  And what's in the bag, Miranda's bottle and baby powder. What is the deal with little girls and diapering???

Wordless Wednesday - Hanging Out at Ikea

We made a trip to Ikea this past weekend. I love Ikea, obviously,  number one reason is the cost but we can't fail to mention variety of products offered, food (yum), and customer service (that does not include returns which they need to work on, 45 minute wait time is crazy.)

At some point, I will provide you with all the cool renovations around my apartment gathered from my Ikea purchases.

Wordless Wednesday - Girls will be Boys

Sunday was a gorgeous day so we ran out so my daughter could ride her bike. Lo and behold, there she is trying to run over a plot of dirty snow.

Seriously, she looks for dirt wherever she goes although I shouldn't complain since she pretty much wears what I tell her.

I am hanging onto pink and dresses as long as I can.

Wordless Wednesday - First Snow Storm of 2009

How can you resist heading out into the first snow storm of the year? In New York City, if you aren't out there early after a couple of hours, the snow is pretty icky from all the people trudging through the snow.

Now I have to get out and buy a sled just in case it snows again.

Wordless Wednesday - Future Rockette?

Last month, courtesy of my mom blogger friend Beth Feldman @rolemommy.com, we headed off to the opening night of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

P.S. I love the dress she is wearing and am sad that it is the last year she will be able to wear it.

Full disclosure, my daughter and I have attended the show for the last three years so I can fully recommend adding the show to your list of annual traditions regardless that we went this year gratis.

Wordless Wednesday - Growing Up Too Soon

One day, I will look back on this photo and think wow! what a cute coat she is wearing and why are her skirts so short? And good lord, who let her starting using and iPhone? Oh, me, bad parent.

Wordless Wednesday - Moms as Surgeons

We moms have to perform many duties and one is surgery on lost body parts on dolls. My daughter hounded me until I fixed this little guy's nose. After an intense search of fabric glue (remind me to label boxes), surgery was performed and now he is back to new and all is well in the kingdom.

Wordless Wednesday - Apple Picking

Last weekend, we took advantage of the beautiful fall weather and headed out to Wilkins Farm in Yorktown Heights, New York for some apple picking. Note to self, go earlier. Of course, I now have a bushel of apples to deal with. Fair warning. Apple recipes postings are a coming.

P.S. Pictured is my daughter's godmother and her father who is visiting us from Rehobeth Beach.
