Adoption Agency Celebration Was A Breeze - No more birth mother questions

Last week, I mentioned that my daughter wanted to know if her birth mother was coming to the 15th Celebration of the Adoption Arc, the agency where I adopted my daughter from. Lo and behold, there was not one follow up question all weekend. Funny, right. My instinct tells me she was so excited about going on the train, staying in a hotel and swimming in the hotel pool that she forgot to ask any more questions even at the celebration. She was just happy to be on a trip.

I think children can only process so much information at one time. They ask a question, you answer it the best way you can and they accept it at face value and they move on.

Phew! Dodged a bullet for now. I know that the questions are inevitable and I think (lord, I hope) I can answer the questions so she understands her place in the world and how much she means to me and what a true sacrifice her birth mother made but until that day comes, I will live one day at a time.

That said, Philadelphia was a blast. I haven't been to Philadelphia since I finalized the adoption and certainly haven't been there as a tourist. Even though we were only there a day and a half, we covered a lot of ground. We went to the zoo, Please touch museum where the celebration took place, went to the Liberty Bell (recommend getting there when it opens so you can get your photo op) and took a horse and carriage ride around Society Hill.

Totally a blast and look forward to going back and seeing more of the city.

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I love reading your posts. I'm so glad you had a good trip! When the time comes to deal with those questions again, I'm sure you'll have the right things to say. Sometimes God provides us with only enough information to get through the now. When the time comes, you'll pass the test with flying colors.
