Recently, I was invited to a meeting to learn about Flipping for Phonics, a three-tiered system to help your child learn to read. The system leverages Flip the Monkey as the phonics guide and consists of a phonics flip book, music CDs and story books.
The system seemed simple enough and with the flip book, you can see how a child would be able to form thousands of word combinations all the while having the initial learning reinforced with the companion music/books.
Given that Alex is reading, it's hard for me to truly assess the book from a child's perspective. I am sure that given the price of the system, I would have tried it, if it was out when she was younger. My only caveat/concern is the natural reaction to begin working with a child as young as three. Everyone's child is different and I am pretty sure that even if I had started my daughter with the flip book at three, it would have been a disaster.
That said, it doesn't hurt to try and see if your child catches on. It does seem simple enough.
Right now on the flipping for phonics website, the price is $24.95 and includes:
Phonics Flip Tool
Instructionl DVD
Flip's book (6 stories)
Flip's Tunes (6 songs)
Rewards stickers

Interesting. I will look into it. Baby boy is only 1.5 yrs old but maybe for the future.
You didn't actually review the project. I'm not sure if I am frustrated that you included this article for the free product or that you didn't actually say anything other than you got a free product.
