EcoStore Eco-Friendly Products Review and Giveaway

As part of my apartment therapy cure (see my earlier posts), I am trying to use more eco-friendly, organic products in my home.

So I was super pleased to have EcoStore reach out to me to try their products.

EcoStore is a New Zealand based company that is now selling products in the United States via the web and MEIJER supermarkets.

The product line includes household cleaning, baby and personal care products which are plant based, non-toxic and contain No Nasty Chemicals ™.

I chose to try two household products that I use most often as a start and found their claim that their products are as effective as supermarket brands to be true.

Automatic Dish Powdered ($11.00) - I was skeptical that you only have to use a tablespoon of the super concentrated powder as I have this tendency to fill the container to the brim but my dishes came out beautifully clean. The glasses definitely had that sheen you always see in commmercials. I was truly impressed.

Cream Cleanser ($7.00) - I used the just a little of the cleanser on the bathroom tub and sink. It definitely got the grime up. And trust me after my daughter washes her hair, there is definitely a ring around that tub. Both the sink and tub sparkled without a lot of effort on my part and left no grit the way Ajax/Comet leaves (yes, I still use that stuff). Again, I was very satisfied with the results. My only comment is that the scent is not as strong I would like but that's just because I have been conditioned to think that the Pine Sol/Ajax smell indicates a clean smell and we know that's not true.

Giveway:
One lucky New York City Single Mom reader will be able to pick out two products of their choice from ecoStore.

To enter, please check out the products at ecostoreusa.com and tell me 1) which products would best work for you and 2) what steps you are taking to reduce your carbon footprint in the "comments" section below by Friday, June 19, 2009 at 12 midnight EST.

Don't forget to include your email address.

For additional entries:
1. Register as a follower on my blog - (you can do it anonymously, if you prefer)
2. Follow me on twitter.com - www.twitter.com/buffyfan2
3. Blog about this contest on your blog
4. Subscribe to my mailing list

Note: U.S. Residents only
Leave a separate comment for each entry.
Only valid entries will be included.

Even you don't win, please give their products a try as all orders of $25 are eligible for free shipping.
I am planning to try their laundry detergent and hair products.

I love this. All products would work for us. Especially the baby shampoo & pet shampoo.

As to reducing my carbon footprint. I would say the things I'm changing: We use cloth diapers, wipes, recycle, we use cantines and reduced buying and using plastic water bottles and use reusable bags.

I would really love to have the Oxygen Whitener and the Rosemary Orange Shampoo. We're trying to reduce our carbon footprint by installing a rain barrel.

The citrus spray cleaner and dishwash liquid look great! I could really use both of those, I always use green products for cleaning. I am trying to reduce my carbon footprint in many ways - commuting to work on my bike (or using public transit when the weather is not cooperating) - buying soap dispenser refill bags so I don't have to keep buying the containers, using concentrated detergents, planting my own vegetables, and using lots of window fans until the AC is absolutely necessary this summer!

I would also really like to try the Laundry Liquid from EcoStore -- I have a tough time finding eco-friendly laundry detergent. However, I do try to reduce my carbon footprint by washing all of my clothes in cold water.
Thanks!
