Working out with Jillian Michaels

Powered by Whrrl

Yesterday, I headed over to Chelsea Piers to preview the first Wii Video Game, Fitness Ultimatum 2010 designed by America's toughest trainer and health and fitness expert, Jillian Michaels. You know her from the NBC hit tv show, The Biggest Loser.

I don't know why I was excited to attend this event but I thought there might be something I could learn from her given her story about being a fat teenager and turning her life around. She was pretty honest about the fact
that the videogame wasn't supposed to replace your current exercise routine but to enhance it which I appreciated. Everyone trains differently and the game really helps you work on different skills to help you really get a good workout. As you Wii owners know, the game helps with your form in the same manner Wii Fitness does using the nunchuk to check your form, something traditional fitness videos can't do. The videogame also gives you the added benefit of having Jillian " yell" at you (I'm kidding), I think it's more tough love trainer voice than yelling to keep you motivated.

So lookout for her Wii video game on October 6 and the Nitendo DS game on October 20. She, also, mentioned that an iPhone app was in the works. Great for business travelers.

I don't watch the show so I had no expectations about Ms. Michaels. I have to say she was very down to earth, funny, forthcoming with the answers and super patient. I waited for awhile to get my picture with her. Let's be honest, everyone wants their picture with her for their site and I am no different. She was so sweet, even in the end as her people were dragging her away to catch her flight, she stopped to take a photo with me and several other bloggers. Thanks Jillian.

In the end, I actually wished she wasn't so nice because I came home and saw our picture. Yikes!!! I am twice her size. Okay, she is probably a zero but seriously, I am still pretty fat in the photo. The picture is a wake-up call, I am going start carrying the photo around with me to keep me motivated to work out and STOP eating so much. Yikes, again.

Finally, I want to give kudos to Beth Feldman from Rolemommy.com for doing a phenomenal job of introducing Jillian and being a great mistress of ceremonies for the event.
